Okay, so I've watched The Young and the Restlessfor two days straight. I've got to tell you, I love it. It deals with real-life drama, and it doesn't have several separate storylines in the air, they're all settled before they move on.
In yesterday's episode, it dealt with Jack Abbott being asked to resign from Chancellor Industries. In the first scene, we see Caroline discussing other options that would satisfy her PR and keep Jack away from her hair. Next we have Jack's sister talking to Jill about a webpage Jill wants her to change. During this, they are discussing Jack's future with Chancellor. The next scene, we have Jack punching Nick after learning he slept with his wife. Then we have Jack arguing with his wife about it.
Almost all the scenes were tied to Jack Abbott, and, yet, I wasn't bored.
In yesterday's episode of Days, we had Mimi being happy because it was almost time to conceive, Shawn discovering a new way to get more air into the carburator, and a birthday party for Victor Kiriakis. Not to mention, Chelsea being suspicious of something going on with Claire. We also have whats-her-name proposing to the other guy, Jack waking up in the hospital, Kate visiting Carrie and Lucas, just to find out Carrie's pregnant-- not to mention Sami on the roof arguing with Austin about how he still loves Carrie, and 5 minutes later he proposes to her.
Everything was all over the place, and, although there were parts I liked, I wasn't completely satisfied.
In yesterday's episode of Passions, Ethan is asleep on the plane, Theresa tries to seduce him and also wonders what the suspicious email meant. Miguel listens to Carl's story about the mermaid he saw, as Miguel thinks about how his tattoo looks like Siren. Miguel brings home lots of fish, Kay wants him to see the baby, then asks him to take a shower. Siren gets jealous and says two can play at this game. Fox teaches Siren how to break an egg. Luis dreams of Beth getting caught, and him taking Marty back to Sheridan. Later he has dinner with Fancy, while Beth sits at a table nearby. There was another storyline in there, but I can't remember and no longer seem to care.
So, that's 3-4 semi-related yet not related stories. There was no real action. Perhaps if Luis's dream were real, or if something else exciting happened, I'd be happier.
I don't know what it is. Y&R is a lot more successful than Passions and Days. Is this a reason why?
